Update on Beware of Worldpaypal.net! E-payment Fraudsters?

Some time ago, I reportedly told us about my ugly experience with the above mentioned e-payment company www.worldpaypal.net owned by a Nigerian ¡°Firmswitch¡±. Well, a lot had happened in the past few months as I equally told us I did reported the said company to Consumer Protection Agency of Nigeria, and true to their words of assurance I could authoritatively tell us that the above defaulting company was floored to honor my debit card payment which exorbitantly was sold to me and never supplied to me after several appeals and amicable personal efforts by me.

However after a month of my reporting them to Consumer Protection Agency of Nigeria (CPC), I could say I finally got my electronic equivalent of my money now in my custody for use. In fact on the 8^th of March 21, 2008 at about 06:42 pm I received a text message from their London bank bearing the number +44778148400 informing me of the availability of my card. The message is as below;

Your card is ready and available to use; card # is ¡­¡­¡­¡­¡­¡­¡­¡­expiration date12/20009. Online admin-worldpaypal.net

Sir, for close to three years now, I have maintained a Business account with the above mentioned company via their e-payment website www.worldpaypal.net. During the said period and the course of running this account, I had so far committed the total sum of N= 48,520.00 (Forty Eighth thousand, five hundred and twenty naira only), which was paid into their account in three installments of:

First: N= 29,400.00 (Twenty nine thousand, four hundred naira only) being a total amount for a $200 (U.S dollar) worth of their voucher card at N= 147 PER $1, which took them a two weeks period to confirm and send to me online via their online chat support system and a four-hour frustrating daily efforts on my part to get them to send it to me.

Second: N= 10,300.00 (Eight thousand, three hundred naira only) being a total amount for a $70 (U.S dollar) of their voucher card at N= 147 per $1, undergoing the same frustrating experience as stated above in the first. Paid on the 30^th July 2007.

Third: N= 8820.00 (Eight thousand eight hundred and twenty naira only) meant for a $60 (U.S dollar) of their voucher card at N147 per $1. Same as above with experience, and paid on the 5^th of December 2007.

At a point Sir, I had wanted to discontinue with the account after the harrowing experience when I deposited my first initial payment as stated above, but I forced to back out the plan when it occurred to me that they wouldn’t agree to that effect after several pleas, the reason on their part being their “TERMS OF AGREEMENT” I had agreed to when creating the account. So I had decided to forge ahead with the intention of at least ordering my first debit through them.

The intent of running and maintaining this Business account as already stated above was to enable me order for a $200 (U.S dollar) worth of debit card which they as at that time presumably the first and only company running such service to the best of my knowledge until the others came on board with a better, prompt and cheaper service delivery. They had claimed of providing such services within 5 working days, as soon as the conditions of the services were met. However, to my greatest chagrin, I was to discover that I had fallen into the hands of “CON MEN” offering unavailable services with the intent of defrauding their victims their hard earned money and equally sitting proudly tight on it without any foreseeable sign of either repaying the said amount or delivering on the paid service which I did on the 8^th of December 2007, a transaction for which I was charged a 35% commission of the $200 (U.S dollar) which amounts to $70 (U.S dollar).

Even though they told me that it would be due on the 17^th of January 2008, I‘ve lost the total confidence in them to believe whatever they have to tell me because that was the second time the did told such and it never materialize i.e I was told to wait patiently for another 7 days to cumulate on the 22^nd of Decembers by their staff behind their online chat system. Even as at yesterday and today, I’ve tried their number and the online chat room meeting positive “dead silence” in return, they simple had began to ignore me.

Till date, I’ve exhaustred all resources and energy in my honest bid to see an amicable resolution to the abnormally but I have seen that they are an unrepentant and hardened gang of criminals posing as a business e-payment outfit, with frivolous excuse that my MasterCard debit card order was as they put it “undergoing due process” whatever they meant by that. I hereby, has no option than to petition to you Sir on this case because as it is now its gone beyond my self effort to resolve it. I demand for compensation from for not delivering on my paid service thereby withholding my funds without interest and for no legal reason for all these while denying me the opportunity of utilizing the said funds for discounted online business transactions/services which I had intended cashing in during the yuletides of December 2007.

Secondly too, for the unquantifiable losses I had incurred emotionally, financially, and otherwise in my self-efforts contacting them towards an amicable solution of the raised matter in contention. I would prefer to you Sir to use your good office to compel them have my Business accounts with them closed without further delays, and all my paid funds utilized and service not provided/honored and unutilized funds returned to me, totaling N= 48,520.00 (Forty Eighth thousand, five hundred and twenty naira only) about $330 (U.S dollar) equivalent.

CAN A PAGAN HOLIDAY BE MADE CHRISTIAN? CAN A PAGAN HOLIDAY BE MADE CHRISTIAN?

It’s quite obvious that the word Christmas is an acronym to big festivity, an annual merry making event that the verse mass of Christendom look forward to every year ending. To quite a good number of persons, it’s a big treat and a time of warmness and expression of love. To equally a good number of persons it is nothing but a big religious event to mark the celebration of “an all important event that marked our common era- the birth of the savior, Jesus Christ.”

However, for some time now, there had been an equally increasing number of people with differing views as to what and how Christmas should be celebrated, as a religious event or as a purely secular event.

No wonder during the winter of 2004, the Christmas season in Italy was marked by a lively debate. Some educators and teachers supported the idea of reducing to a minimum or even completely eliminating any reference to religious Christmas tradition. They advocated this out of respect for the increasing number of school children who are neither Catholics nor Protestants. However, others in scholastic circles and elsewhere demanded that the traditions be respected and fully preserved.

Aside from this controversy, though, just what are the origins of many of the Christmas traditions? As the debate was reaching its climax, the Vatican newspaper L’OSSERVATORE ROMEANO made some interesting observations.

Regarding the date when Christmas is celebrated, the Catholic newspaper said: “The real date of Jesus birth, from the historical viewpoint, lies concealed beneath a veil of uncertainty as regards Roman history, the imperial census of that time and research in subsequent centuries…..The date of 25^th December, as is well known, was chosen by the church of Rome in the fourth century. This date in pagan Rome was dedicated to the Sun god….Although Christianity had already been affirmed in Rome by an Edit

of Constantine, the myth of ……the Sun god was still widespread , especially among soldiers. The above mentioned festivities, centred on 25 December, were deeply rooted in popular tradition. This gives the church of Rome the idea of impressing a Christian religious significance on the day by replacing the Sun god with the true Sun of Justice , Jesus Christ, choosing it as a day on which to celebrate his birth.”

One is quick to ask: “What about the Christmas tree, which is now part of the Catholic tradition?”

The article in the Catholic newspaper pointed out tat back in ancient times, many evergreens, such as “Holly, butcher’s broom, Laurel and Branches of pine or fir were considered to have magical or medical powers that would ward off illness.” It went to say: “ON CHRISTMAS EVE, 24 December, A dam and Eve would be commemorated with the highly popular episode of the Tree of the earthly Paradise…The tree ought to have been an apple tree, but since an apple would have been inappropriate in winter, a fir tree was set on the stage and some apples put on its branches or, to symbolize the future coming of the Redemption, wafers prepared with crushed biscuits in special moulds that were symbols of the Eucharistic presence of Jesus, as well as sweet and gifts for children.”

Again, What then about after that time?

Mentioning that the tradition of using a Christmas tree first started in Germany in the 16^th century, L’Ossertore Romano noted with insight: “Italy was one of the last countries to accept the Christmas tree, partly because of a rather widespread rumors that the use of Christmas trees was a Protestant practice and should thus be replaced by the crib [the Nativity Scene].” Pope Paul VI “began the tradition of setting up [in St. Peter’s Square, Rome] a massive Christmas tree” near the Nativity Scene.

In view of all these, do you find it acceptable that a religious leader would give a seemly Christian meaning to events and symbols whose roots go back to ancient paganism? As to the proper course, the Scriptures admonish true Christians: “What fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what sharing does light have with darkness?” -2 Corinthians 6:14-17.
